My third bilingual poetry book, "The Summer I Found my Wings" is releasing this year. I wrote the poems from spring - summer - fall 2025. The words in this book implore you to love yourself.
HAHAHAHA!!!! I loved loved loved this Arsh! And I had so many feelings and emotions come up. I used to have intense, strong emotions towards hate. My body used to recoil before. It's one of the strongest words and emotions, and I couldn't fathom how anybody could hold it in them, you know?? But in the last few years, I've realised that it does have a purpose in the world. Because without it, we would never feel love. It's like light and darkness. Nothing and everything. One has to exist to witness the other. Paradoxes. This is, of course, my spiritual side. My human side still goes "Aaaaahhhh!" lol. I'm continuously questioning myself about my biases and how I witness the world.
Okay, so this got me thinking. It did not sit right with me to compare hate with darkness.
Darkness is natural
But hate is learned, a distortion in human condition.
Hate is spread to justify the cruelty.
Also, its hard for me to justify ‘existence hate’ because it leads to cruelty. I dont think I can ever justify cruelty as being a part of the world.
Suffering, sure is.
But cruelty is completely human made.
What is human made, taught by humans - can be unlearned, can be unmade.
I dont think we need hate to feel love. Love is the most natural thing. I dont need to hate anyone to love flowers. The love comes naturally when I see one.
Oh my gosh! I love this so so much! And of course it's also bringing up a lot of mixed thoughts and feelings lol. Love exists on its own. That hit me the hardest and so absolutely true. I love how you differentiated between cruelty and suffering! So true too! Cruelty and hate definitely seems to exist only with humans for sure.
But I think what I meant is evil? Evil or darkness is a part of the world right? We've always had good v/s evil battle from the beginning of time. And I think cruelty and hate are sort of outcomes of evil? If it makes sense...at least that's what comes to me ❤️
