I got caught a lot as a kid - it didn’t matter if it was my stupid snitch sister (love you, sis), my arrogant power hungry teachers or just my own dumb execution.
The list of my ruined adventures seemed endless:
Hiding my backpack on the roof, hoping they wouldn’t send me to school.
Spilling my aunt’s fancy moisturizer on the floor - coz slime wasn’t popular yet.
Cutting inches off one of my two braids. (thats on me; anyone would notice that)
Destroying my clothes to get new ones
The Ultimate No No: Talking to boys (I think it’s still restricted)
Making a Facebook account or like ten.
By the time I was 16, it had gotten so difficult to enjoy the forbidden things - always worrying about getting caught and anticipating future punishments.
Then I watched “Interstellar” - a masterpiece that made me realize my life is Murphy’s law in action. Everything and anything was bound to go wrong.
Therefore, I adapted. Since then, I have been preparing for the worst in every situation. I prepared backups for my backups.
You might ask did it stop me from getting caught? It is an ironic loop.
I accept the worst that might happen → I come up with a strategy (mostly excuses) to deal with it → I am no longer worried about the worst → I have weirdly insane confidence → Everything works out perfectly.
Now, my brain has turned this into a coping mechanism for the worries of the uncertain scary future - Paying off my credit card, finding a job, making big decisions, tummy sticking out in the summer; the usual stuff.
Trust me, it works like a charm! Give it a go.
If you’re anxious about your unknown future, try imagining the worst. And if you need help coming up with a backup plan, I am your girl. (This one time, I even planned on faking my death for a fresh start.)
When life gives you lemons - be prepared with the marketing strategy for the lemonade stand.

Like always, it was fun reading it. "Backups of backups" 😇 We would love to see a newsletter from you on "Murphy’s law in action"!
Everything works out perfectly. But perfect needs time and most of us are too anxious to give time the time to make things perfect.
